Neil Armstrong — One Giant Leap

When Neil Armstrong traveled to the Moon in 1969, a little piece of aviation's beginning went with him. Apollo 11's lunar module carried small pieces of wood and fabric from the original Wright Flyer to the lunar surface.

The connection is remarkable: material from the pioneering 1903 airplane accompanied humanity's first Moon landing just sixty-six years later. This Liberty Art Note celebrates that extraordinary span of imagination and engineering, and the many hands whose work made one historic step possible.
