Benjamin Franklin — America 250 Portrait

Long before his famous experiments with electricity, Benjamin Franklin was experimenting with a faster swim. As a boy, he made oval wooden paddles for his hands and tried sandal-like attachments for his feet.

The Smithsonian describes an experiment that improved speed but proved awkward to use. That small, imperfect invention captures an appealing side of Franklin: he was willing to try, observe, and try again. This portrait celebrates the playful curiosity behind one of America's most inventive minds.

Part of our America 250 collection, this Liberty Art Note is collectible artwork printed on authentic U.S. currency, not an official government commemorative issue. A piece to collect, share, and spark conversation.

Each Liberty Note is individually signed by hand. Signature colors and the number of signatures vary by design, adding to the individual character of each piece.

Independent tribute artwork
Liberty is an independent art studio creating collectible artwork inspired by American history, sports, and culture. Our pieces are made one at a time in small batches. Tribute and fan artwork are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any depicted athlete, public figure, team, league, brand, or their representatives. They are independently created works of art, not officially licensed merchandise.

Art meets Americana. Printed on authentic U.S. currency, each Liberty Art Note celebrates the people, moments, and stories that shape American culture. Created to spark joy, stir memories, and inspire conversation—a meaningful addition to your collection or a memorable gift.

Artist's Finishing Touches: Most uncut sheets receive hand-painted accents at the artist's discretion. The placement, colors, and extent of these enhancements vary, making each finished sheet individually distinctive. Single Art Notes are not hand-painted.

Serial numbers and exact artwork placement vary.
