One of our most beloved designs, The Indian Chief honors the strength, courage, heart, and enduring cultural heritage of Native American peoples. Across North America, Indigenous nations have long maintained distinct forms of leadership, diplomacy, and community responsibility. The title “chief” is used by some nations, while others have governors, presidents, chairpersons, or traditional councils.
Native American nations are not only part of America's past: they are living communities with their own governments, cultures, and traditions. Today, the United States recognizes more than 570 tribal nations at the federal level. That number counts federally recognized tribes, not individual chiefs; there is no single national registry of chiefs.
Artist's Finishing Touches: Most uncut sheets receive hand-painted accents at the artist's discretion. The placement, colors, and extent of these enhancements vary, making each finished sheet individually distinctive. Single Art Notes are not hand-painted.
Part of our America 250 collection, this Liberty Art Note is artwork printed on authentic U.S. currency as an artistic tribute, not an official government or tribal commemorative issue. Each note is individually hand-signed; signature colors and counts may vary.
Art meets Americana. Printed on authentic U.S. currency, each Liberty Art Note celebrates the people, moments, and stories that shape American culture. Created to spark joy, stir memories, and inspire conversation—a meaningful addition to your collection or a memorable gift.
Each Liberty Note is individually signed by hand. Signature colors and the number of signatures vary by design, adding to the individual character of each piece.
Serial numbers and exact artwork placement vary.
