Spirit of ’76 — The March to Independence

A famous image of the Revolution was created for a much later anniversary. Archibald Willard's The Spirit of '76 was made for the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, a hundred years after independence.

That makes it a work of national remembrance rather than an eyewitness picture from 1776. Its appeal continued as later generations found their own meaning in its determined march. This America 250 tribute celebrates the way art carries a nation's stories forward, giving the past a new audience with every anniversary.

Part of our America 250 collection, this Liberty Art Note is collectible artwork printed on authentic U.S. currency, not an official government commemorative issue. A piece to collect, share, and spark conversation.

Each Liberty Note is individually signed by hand. Signature colors and the number of signatures vary by design, adding to the individual character of each piece.

Art meets Americana. Printed on authentic U.S. currency, each Liberty Art Note celebrates the people, moments, and stories that shape American culture. Created to spark joy, stir memories, and inspire conversation—a meaningful addition to your collection or a memorable gift.

Artist's Finishing Touches: Most uncut sheets receive hand-painted accents at the artist's discretion. The placement, colors, and extent of these enhancements vary, making each finished sheet individually distinctive. Single Art Notes are not hand-painted.

Serial numbers and exact artwork placement vary.
