Established in 1926, U.S. Route 66 originally linked Chicago with Los Angeles. Its western endpoint was extended to Santa Monica in 1936, creating the celebrated route of roughly 2,400 miles through eight states. It became one of America's most celebrated highways—a path of migration, commerce, adventure, and possibility.

During the Dust Bowl era, families traveled west along Route 66 in search of new opportunities. John Steinbeck called it the “Mother Road” in The Grapes of Wrath, and in the decades that followed its diners, motels, neon signs, and roadside attractions helped define the great American road trip. Though decommissioned as a U.S. highway in 1985, historic stretches remain cherished landmarks.

In 2026, Route 66 celebrates its 100th anniversary as the United States marks 250 years of independence. Part of our America 250 collection, this Liberty Art Note honors the road's enduring place in American culture. Printed on authentic U.S. currency as an artistic tribute, not an official government commemorative issue.

Each note is individually hand-signed; signature colors and counts may vary.

Art meets Americana. Printed on authentic U.S. currency, each Liberty Art Note celebrates the people, moments, and stories that shape American culture. Created to spark joy, stir memories, and inspire conversation—a meaningful addition to your collection or a memorable gift.

Each Liberty Note is individually signed by hand. Signature colors and the number of signatures vary by design, adding to the individual character of each piece.

Artist's Finishing Touches: Most uncut sheets receive hand-painted accents at the artist's discretion. The placement, colors, and extent of these enhancements vary, making each finished sheet individually distinctive. Single Art Notes are not hand-painted.

Serial numbers and exact artwork placement vary.
